Following a battery replacement on the Macbook Pro 13” Early 2015, both the trackpad and keyboard are unresponsive. Additionally, the battery can be seen in Cocoa Battery as in poor condition and unable to hold a charge. The Macbook is being ran from the charger. I replaced the ribbon cable twice with no resolution to the issue. My thought is either the trackpad controller was damaged upon the installation of the battery or the battery itself is damaged and Apple limits / disables hardware like the trackpad, keyboard, fan, ports when operating solely from the charger. Any assistance is appreciated!
I just replaced a batteries in 2 - 2015 15” Retina’s. One of them is perfect and the other one the keyboard does not work now. I did not unplug the keyboard on either unit. Just the track pad ribbon cable. Also blasted the PRAM and the SMC and that did not work. USC keyboard is plugged in now and that works, but that just a temp fix Update (08/25/2019) The laptop sees the USB internal keyboard when I look at the hardware system overview. I am thinking this is a software issue and not a ribbon at this point. It was perfect a few hours ago. A little puzzled. Update (08/25/2019) Come to find out there is a keyboard controller in the track pad connector. I removed the track pad ribbon at both ends and reinstalled. Works perfect.
