My almost 4 year old MBPr’s trackpad is ticking like a clock. It is making ticking noise and vibrating minutely even when the force touch motor is not engaged by anyone and left on its on. Any theories why this is happening? I have cleaned up the gap between the trackpad and the body with a thing paper but to no avail.

I’ve encountered this on two systems with the Touchpad like this model. What appears to happen is liquid seeps into the layers of the touch plate in this case its not a full short but resistive so the logic its stuck not knowing if there is pressure applied or not, so it oscillates. Sadly, you’ll need to replace the Touchpad to fix it MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Early 2015) Trackpad and here’s the guide to follow MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Trackpad Replacement
