Hi all, I got hold of a A1502 Mid 2014 Macbook Pro Retuna where the keyboard and trackpad wasnt working. I’ve replaced the battery and trackpad assembly (with new flex cable), SMC, PRAM reset with fresh OS, but still doesn’t work. Oddly though, if I hold down Option CTRL Shift and the power button, I can see that this resets the SMC as the light on the charger changes colour. But when the mac is up and running, it’s not working. Odd. Can’t see any marks of water damage, or know if anything is shorting but not sure how to test either. Keyboard illuminates. Thanks,
Lets give this a try: Disconnect both the MagSafe charger and battery (no power at all) now press and hold the power button for a good minute to fully discharge the logic board. Now carefully plug in the MagSafe charger the system should spontaneously restart, is the keyboard and trackpad now working? If not we need to look deeper at the logic board connections. Take some detailed pics of the connectors (in focus and not blurry) Use a tripod and defused lighting, post them here for me to see Adding images to an existing question Update (12/29/2019) Here’s a sets of image which shows a good connector and the latch which appears to have been removed from your keyboard and trackpad logic board connectors (make sure you zoom on them to see).
Properly set
Folding the latch up
Latch in the up position So… At this point you’ll need to find the latches and carefully snap them back in. Or if they are missing you’ll need to find a junker to pull them off, or get a set of new connectors to then remove the latches from to save your logic board.
