Hello, im writing in here because i have a problem with my Macbook air from mid 2011. I bought the mac a few months ago with a defect touchpad that wouldn’t move the cursor or right click (it’s able to click normally though), thinking that it would be easy to fix, just by replacing the touchpad. Now a few months later i’ve tried: Changing the touchpad (same result. I used the exact same touchpad model) Changing the touchpad cable Resetting all kinds of stuff Calling apple support and following their instruction And messing with the touchpad settings But nothing seems to work, currently im using a wireless logitech mouse to control the cursor which works perfectly fine. I would really appreciate if somebody could help me find a solution, because im currently clueless about what could be cause the problem.
Did you replace the IPD Flex Cable? I would start there. Update (03/29/2018) Wanted to make sure you had gotten the correct cable. New touchpad and IPD cable, mmm… The keyboard is working correct? (you tested all of the keys). If thats the case then you may have confused your self putting the old one back in. Double check your self. The IPD cable carries both the keyboard & touchpad signals to the logic board the USB interface logic is part of the logic board (this is an internal USB bus) which is part of the PCH logic. If you are sure you have a good part then the logic board has a problem. Does it look like there was a liquid spill at some point? Pull the board and inspect it for staining on both sides and look at the uppercase as well under the logic board.
