Hello, I’ve read everything i could about touch ID, but i couldn’t find a similar situation. I have an Iphone 6. I changed screen and I use old home button and ribbon. At first i was able to complete touch id setup. All was good, but after 2 days, touch id stopped working. I managed to get it working again by rebooting several times, soft reset.. But then again it stopped working. When i did factory reset and tried to setup fresh again, “add fingerprint” was greyed and it said unable to complete touch id. After many reboots, i got it functional again, but only for 1 day, then it’s all over again… Has anyone experienced the same thing?? Thanks in advance for your help. It’s very weird, but touch ID sometimes works, and suddenly stops working. I have succeded to get it work again after several reboots, but once again it stopped working. When i reboot it, I dont have the option to add fingerprint… I tried factory reset, soft reset… When I do that the phone tells me it’s unable to complete touch id setup. Has someone experienced the same kind of failure?
Hello Pompoko, There is an IC on the Touch ID assembly that is keyed to the board. If the cable is damaged or replaced you will still have home button functionality but will lose touch ID. My guess is it was likely damaged upon removal, they are very sensitive. There is no way to repair this unless the damage can be found on the original home button flex and repaired. If you have a trusted shop nearby that does microsoldering I would reach out to them. It is not, however, a practical repair. Hope this helps, Holger
