So this is weird… I had a cracked and unresponsive touchscreen so I replaced it. Before I made the final seals and put the screws in I tested the phone while open, it worked fine. After I put the screen back on I realized I may have pressed on the digitizer too hard from behind. When I sealed the phone and put the screws back in and turned it back on the screen was touching in the wrong area as if I might’ve damaged it. I was going through the process of reordering a new screen to replace this one, but I dropped the phone in the meantime. When I turn the phone back on everything has been working fine (typing on it now). Do you think I should just replace it while the return period is still open or do you think this drop might’ve made the final connections I needed for this to work properly?
Did you also replace the screen adhesive and clean off the old adhesive? It sounds like you broke the new screen or possibly the flex cables got pinched when the new screen was pushed in all the way. I would remove the screen to see if the screen works while not in all the way but definitely sounds like you will need another new screen.
