Hi everybody I inherited a nice Ipad Air spacial gray to repair. It looks great! the only problem is that the Touch screen is not responding at all. I removed the digitizer and I can say that it’s the original one! never been changed as it was really a long and hard task even with my hot air station. (don’t know which tape Apple uses but it’s a good one!). As I have a touch screen for the same model in reserve I changed it although I was almost sure of the result. And I was not deceived: still the same issue! So it’s a problem directly linked to the motherboard. Doing some request on Google I found the possibility that it could involve 2 quartz located on the mainboard just near the 2 digitizer connectors (why 2? one for vertical move & one for horizontal?) Before I eventually buy a pair of these one did somebody encountered the same issue and how it was solved? Thanks for your answers Pat Mise à jour (01/07/2016) Hi I finaly came back to this Ipad issue and decided to remove the Emi shield that protects the 2 Broadcom touch screen controllers . Then I tried to use my hot air solder with to apply hot air (250°) for 5 minutes. Then after all got cold I reassembled the LCD + Touch screen and believe it or not but it worked…. for some hours only ! :(. Strange thing: all looks like the hot air put back to life these controllers but only for a short while! I tried again the day after , but this time , it was unsuccessful. Probably this proves that these controllers have to be changed. I don’t know exactly how they work (why 2 controllers? ) If somebody experienced such issue, I would be grateful to have some more info http://m.eet.com/media/1201343/Broadcom-

Doubt it’s a power chip issue or Wi-Fi ic issue until you’ve investigated the below:

  • Are you having a low to no signal issue and the Wi-Fi can still be switched off and on? If yes then probably the Wi-Fi antenna module needs to be replaced. The part is cheap and can be replaced. You can get the Wi-Fi antennae here: iPad Air, iPad 5, iPad 6, iPad 7 Left Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Antenna Guide to replacing it: iPad Air Wi-Fi Left Antenna Replacement As for the touch screen capability issue. You need to put some sort of electrical thin transparent yellow tape at the bottom part of the digitizer as there can be interference / EMI issues. This image below shows how to stop the jumping issue from the digitizer / touch screen: https://revampwholesalers.files.wordpres… I’m not exactly sure how the digitizer cable is tucked in correctly when closing it up but I think you have to make it sit firmly and not being squished between the metal housing frame and the glass if you know what I mean. Hopefully the digitizer cable is not damaged from being improperly placed.

Nobody encountered this issue apparently? :(

Hi My ipad air’s touch screen stopped working all of a sudden and no one not even apple could fix it so I bought a new one. My grandson wanted the old one so I thought that it would be worth the £12.50 to buy a new screen and replace it. I was having difficulty heating the glue to soften it so I stuck it in the oven at 60degrees C when I took it out of the oven the thing was working perfectly but only until such times as it cools down. Weird eh?
