Vague title, I know. Iphone 6s: Just did a screen replacement on a friend’s 6s, everything normal, took good care, used correct tools, home button works fine, but touch Id doesn’t. Tried everything but couldn’t get the %#*@ thing to work (no notification on phone saying touch id needed repairs), decided to lift the screen and to my surpise, touch id only works while the screen is lifted from the case, the moment I try to shut the phone closed it doesn’t work anymore. Any ideas? tried to losen some screws and protectors, also took screen apart (back panel, flex cable, home button) then install again but didn’t work. Thinking on trying a new screen, any suggestions? Update (08/21/2019) Problem solved, it was the screen I was using, changed that and worked like a charm.
Probably a pinched cable. For what ever reason cables on the iPhone are really sensitive if you pinch them in just the right spot. Could also be an issue with the screen but more than likely it’s something pressing on the button or a ribbon cable when the screen is pushed down. Is the frame bent? Bent frames will keep the screen from sitting correctly putting pressure in areas it shouldn’t be.
