Hey guys, I recently noticed my home button no longer clicks down at all but it still acted as a home button. But now Touch ID doesn’t work unless i take my pentolope screws out and detach my screen from the rest of the body. When the screen is detached the home button works (but still doesn’t click). But when I put the screen back on it goes again. I’ve looked at my home button but I can’t tell what’s causing it. Update (08/23/2020) I’ve installed the new screen but now it isn’t working at all. There wasn’t anything wrong with the pins in the connector slot, could it be possible my home button has failed?
It might be a defective screen and when you put back on the pressure or the cable could cause the problem. Do you have another screen you can try?
If you can’t unlock your iOS device using Touch ID, can’t enroll a fingerprint, or you’re asked to enter your passcode, follow these steps. Try using Touch ID after each step: Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS.Make sure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.* For the Home button, use a clean, lint-free cloth to wipe off any dirt or debris.Your finger should cover the Home button completely, touching the surrounding metal ring. While Touch ID is scanning, you shouldn’t tap too quickly or move your finger around. If you’re using a case or screen protector, make sure it doesn’t cover the Home button or the surrounding ring.Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on, and that you’ve enrolled one or more fingerprints.Try enrolling a different finger. I hope the answer comes in handy for you.
