Chosen Solution
Hi! So I bought an iPhone with a cracked screen. Replaced the screen and tested the functionality of the home button and touch id - they worked fine. Then i noticed that the front camera was not working. Bought a new one and changed it and it begun working Now when I try to add a fingerprint or enable Touch ID it gives me the error “Touch ID cannot be activated”. The home button and 3D touch are working fine. Thing I have tried: Clean and reinstall connectors on screen/motherboardClean install through iPhone and iTunesSoftware update Is there something else I could try? I am hesitant to buy another screen for this problem.
Hi First, a new screen will not solve the problem. Second you’ll need to check the home button flex cable and more important, since I dont think you dissasembled the home button at the bottom of the screen, check the flex cable running behind the LCD backplate, I do think you disconnected this cable/connector. This flex cable is running from your home button tot the motherboard. Check it, or order a new flex cable and test if the fingerprint sensor is working (dont forget to restart the iPhone every time you want to check , otherwise it will not work anyway). And check the connector on the motherboard… clean al connectors with isopropanol… and check the surrounding parts soldered on the motherboard. maybe you damaged something by mistake Good luck
