Hello- I purchased a iPhone 6s Plus LCD Screen & Digitizer Full Assembly kit from iFixit and after replacing the screen I’m getting a message that says “Unable to activate Touch ID on this Iphone” and I’m unable to use or setup TouchID. I did the following:
- Installed the new assembly following the step by step directions on this site
- Swapped the home button from the old display to the new one
- After connecting the battery and turning the phone on, everything is working perfectly (Display, touch/scrolling, both cameras, home button, microphones, etc) except for the TouchID. I’m also unable to “double tap” the home button to bring the top of the screen down into reach. I have seen other posts on this site and have attempted to trouble shoot. I have restored the phone to original factory settings, I have done several “hard resets” to the phone and still get the same error message. I am starting to think that the replacement display that I received from iFixit is faulty because as soon as I connected my original display back into the phone and swapped the home button back, Touch ID was working again, eliminating the thought that it is a bad logic board. Any other ideas in mind that you guys recommend or should I go back to iFixit to get a replacement screen under the warranty?
If you have another screen, test it and see if touch ID would work. There are two reasons that I think that causes touch ID stopped working.
- The connector cable on replacement is no good that is why is not detecting it.
- When removing the home button from old screen, the cable is ripped, even a tiny nib it would cause the home button to stopped working.
