After replacing the front panel screen, the touch ID no longer works. The home button works, just not the touch features. Setup of fingerprints immediately goes to a “failed” message. Can this be reset? Or, did something go wrong with the screen installation?
No, there is nothing goes wrong with the installation. You have to reset the fingerprint after screen replacement.

Try and restore the phone, its very possible the touch ID got damaged but usually a restore helps
