Thanks for reading my question! I dropped my phone last week and cracked my LCD screen. I had a reputable 3rd party replace my LCD (not Apple). I have run into a problem with my Touch ID home button being constantly hot and causing a noticeable battery drain. I have narrowed it down to just the button that is hot and not the surrounding area. The vendor is trying to do me right and changed the LCD back plate and then tried a couple of different screens to try and resolve the problem. So far nothing has worked and we’re out of ideas. This leads me to believe that something happened to the button it’s self. I know that the Touch ID button is married to logic board and Apple is the only source to resolve that. They won’t help (even if I offer to pay) since I had a 3rd party open the phone. I’m trying to identify the part of the button that is heating up and diagrams of the part are few and far between. I’m assuming there is some kind of resistance due to something not being grounded or maybe a ribbon connection is not 100%. Have any of you guys taken a Touch ID button apart and know what might be heating the button up? Do you guys have any incite to what part of the button is actually married to the logic board? The ribbon with the QR Code? Or the actual sensor in the button? Thanks again! -J

There is just a flex cable, a button face and a sensor chip, that’s all. For iPhone 6, since there is only one chip, the married part is the chip itself.
