Chosen Solution
So i got a iPhone 6 plus today with the grey bar on top indicating that the touch ic was going bad, or not soldered well. i have replaced the cumulus chip and now i have no grey bar, but the touch is a little less responsive near the letter U if you were texting. or trying to slide backlight brighter 3/4 of the way it stops. Do you think this is a problem with the chip i replaced or is this caused by the mason chip?
Screen could possibly been replaced. It is known to happen that the Touch ID will stop working once a screen is replaced. Part of the deal made when the lawsuit happened over Error 53 (source: TechCrunch).
first of all try to install a new screen to see if it helps. there is no harm in trying a new screen. if it didn’t help any, try re-soldering the chip back in the place, maybe you missed something while soldering the IC. if yet it’s not solved then I think it safe enough to say that It is indeed the touch IC.
