Chosen Solution

I have a Toshiba satellite p55t-c5114 and when I turn it on it it shows the star up logo and then goes to a black screen with a cursor. Basically it wants password and I never put one on so dont know how to get back in to my laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you

@helppleasee If the cursor is just blinking I don’t think it is an issue with the password (which you never set anyway) This sounds more like a boot failure. This can happen because of hardware issues, most commonly a failed hard drive. See if you can get into the recovery environment:

  1. Turn the computer on, and immediately press and hold the F8 key.
  2. After several seconds, the Advanced Boot Options screen will appear. Let us know what you get.
