when I turn on the laptop, it passes the toshiba logo screen and brings a black screen with a flashing white underscore on top_left. then the flashing stop and it freezes for ever. it happens also if I try to boot with a usb.
Could be the hard drive but try this first: Shut down, unplug the AC adapter/power supply/charger and remove battery.Press and hold power button for 20 seconds.Connect charger and press power button. What happens?You could also try taking out and reseating the RAM.Are you able to get into the BIOS? So the problem was somehow from the hard disk. I took it out and put it in another laptop where it worked again. I moved to different operation systems in it and then when I returned the hard disk to the original laptop, it could boot again. One can also run recovery modes in the other laptop for the hard disk.
