I’ve only found answers for fixing the hinge. For me, the hinge is (thankfully) fine. It’s just the shell and light that are broken. I know it’s possible to just glue it back on, however, it broke in such a strange way that it seems impossible to actually put it back on the DS. I’m afraid that if I try to force it on, I’ll just make the problem worse. The part that broke off has half of the little wifi symbol on it, the entire half-cylinder surrounding the light, as well as a small part of the top near the bottom-left of the right bumper.
It is very difficult for someone that has never fixed things before to fix a broken 3ds hinge. It is relatively inexpensive, you only need to buy the part of your shell that is broken (~10$) and maybe the hinge, led, and the part that holds the led and hinge in place (10$). The hard part by far is to get the ribbon cabled through the hinge and back through, so if you are not 100% confident, then give it to a repair shop. You can also try selling your 3ds (if there isn’t anything important on it and then buying another one used (totals to 100$-50$=50$), so that would cost about 50$, depending on the condition of your 3ds and the condition of the one you buy used.
