I have GE Monogram ZISS420NRJSS (mfg date 07/07). I notices that the ice in the freezer slowly started melting. The display temperature settings showed 22 degrees Celsius. I adjusted the temperature back down to a cooler setting on both sides ( fridge and freezer section) but after 7 seconds the display changed back to 22 Degree Celsius. I changed the main control board AP3885943 and the inverter board AP5669522. Plugged the fridge back in and waited a few minutes for it to get going. Then adjusted the temperature back down. Again after a few seconds the temperature display goes back to 22 Degrees C. Compressor is working and fans are running. When I open and close the door it jumps into suction mode to seal the fridge. What can this be ? Does it have a freon leak?

Hi @edwardali Does it show 22 C for both compartments? Try using a thermometer to see what the temperatures in the freezer and the refrigerator compartments actually are when the display shows 22 deg. C, in case it is just a temperature display problem. Is the evaporator icy cold to the touch? (be careful that you don’t literally stick to it if it is). Are the condenser coils warm/hot to the touch? Are there any oily residues below the compressor or on the condenser coils at all which may indicate that there is a refrigerant leak? If not then the high/low pressures in the sealed system would need to be tested to determine what and where the problem is. It could be a faulty compressor, a lack of refrigerant or if there was a build up of ice on a pipe leading from the compressor or into the evaporator unit etc then perhaps a blockage in the sealed system. If the freezer was always at 22 deg.C there should be no ice at all as it should not have formed in the first place or it should have at least nearly all melted before if the temps were at 22 deg.C. for only a while. Even if the refrigerator was in the defrost cycle i.e. compressor and evaporator fan are both stopped and defrost heater turned on, the freezer temp should never go above 0 deg.C because at this temp or very close to it, the defrost thermostats - parts #894 + 895 - freezer section should signal the control board to end the defrost cycle. The control board then turns off the defrost heater and starts the compressor and evaporator fan again to drive the temp back down to the normal operating temp settings of between -21 to -14 deg.C
