So my computer works fine and still charges fine. I bought a fake MagSafe 2 charger off amazon and thought it was okay. It stoped charging, and I took a look and found that one of the “female” receptors- or beads or whatever of the five metal inputs is- Is burnt looking. From research online it looks like the charging port is separate from the rest of my computer so it should be fine if I get it fixed? It works fine now and charges with a VERIFIED apple charger, should I be worried about frying my computer if I continue to charge it for the time being?
First here’s the needed part MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Mid 2012-Early 2013) MagSafe 2 DC-In Board and here’s the guide to put it in MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2012 MagSafe DC-In Board Replacement As far as using your system in this state the connector is setup to supply power of two pins for each side
So while its mate pin can power your system the resistance can create heat which could effect your systems running if you are running anything heavy. Best to cool it with the video or music composing or game play which tend to run the CPU hard.
Sometimes this problem can occur when charging without a dedicated charger. So I recommend you to use its own charger instead of this…
