Hello everyone,
I need help with my Sony KDL 42W706B television. This morning the TV was working perfectly fine and at some point think horizontal lines appeared starting from the bottom left and going half way up the screen. In certain conditions it’s hard to spot but in others it’s very noticeable. Been doing some research and it’s not clear what the issue might be. Tried to take some pictures to highlight the issue but they are a little difficult to spot the fault. I did attempt to see if I could take off the back panel and see if anything was amiss but it wouldn’t budge once I removed all screws and I didn’t want to force it off doing damage to anything.
Added two pictures of the back panel like I was asked. Though according to what I’ve read there doesn’t seem to be any point in trying to fix this if I could get into it anyway. Frustratingly I can’t afford a new or used TV to replace it right now. If anyone as any knowledge on what I might be able to do or if I’m screwed at this point I’d appreciate the help as I’m finding it hard to get solid information. Appreciate the help. UPDATE: The screen as gone black entirely now. Still starts up with the backlight working but there is nothing displayed on the screen and I tried the flashlight test but couldn’t see anything. Please help!
Macho Fantastico those are the lines I hate the most. It is usually an indication that your LCD driver board is/has failed. Either the bonded connection from that board to the LCD or on the LCD itself. The LCD driver board is bonded via very fine ribbon cables and cannot be replaced by us DIY’er due to the bonding required. As for the rear cover removal, post some good pictures of it with your QUESTION. That way we can see what you see and possibly figure out why it is still stuck. Adding images to an existing question
