Hello everybody, i’m sorry for my english, I’ll try to be as explicit as possible. I’ve an iMac 21.5" emc 2308 and last friday my Hitachi 1 tb Hard Disk “died”. I’ve bought a western digital 1tb green HD, and the ifix guide for the HD replacement, about “thermal sensor” write down: “During reassembly, be sure that the thermal sensor connector is connected to set of pins closest to the SATA connectors”. The Hitachi has two pins arranged like this: xx but the Western Digital has 8 pins arranged like this: xxxx xxxx I’ve connected the thermal cable to the set of pins closest to the sata connectors … in this way: xxxo xxxo Is this correct??? Thanks so much for your answers!!!!!!!!!!!! Claudio
I’ve fixed it, i’ve adapted the cable … it works perfectly!!!!! Thanks!
You need a Hitachi Hard Drive. I’ve got the same trouble.
SSD Fan Control, google it. That was the solution to my iMac.
If the original poster could add how thery fixed th eproblem i’d be grateful. I have the same problem. I changed a 500g Seagate to a 1G seagate…and now my fan is running on full..wondering if i need to reverse the cable or simply modify a setting. Regards; mac Update Thanks Dan. I opened up the mac again and could not find any cable that I might have missed. I also called seagate ( the 500g i removed was a barracuda 7200…as was Th.e1TB i installed) and they have NO idea that is compatible with mac or if there is a setting that could be adjusted. Rather than order a cable set and have to go in deeper on the board - i downloaded HDD Fan control….works great. I appreciate your reply however. Thanks mac
