I’m not sure how to repair my tv. Not positive the problem. Research shows it could be the compactors. I’d like to do this myself. However I don’t know exactly how and I don’t want to ruin my TV because It does come on still..until today!! I’m having a longer connection time than usual. It has sound but no picture.

Hi @litlbit , I think that you mean capacitors and not compactors. Try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen to check if there is an image at all when the sound is there but no picture. It will be very faint, so trying this in a darkened room may help to see it if it is there. If you can see images then you have a backlight problem. Disconnect the power from the TV and then remove the back cover from the TV and inspect the boards, especially the power board for any obvious damage such as heat stressed components or blown or bulging capacitors. If nothing is obvious, do you have a DMM and know how to use it? If so reconnect the power to the TV and use the DMM to measure the voltages on the power board (as printed on the board near the connector to the mainboard). Also measure the voltage being supplied to the LED backlight at the connector on the power board to see what it is. If it is in the region 180 -250VDC there is a problem in the backlight array. If there is <~30VDC it is in the power board Be aware that there will be exposed potentially lethal voltage on the power board near where you are going to measure the voltages, so if you don’t know what you’re doing then don’t do it! Leave it for the experts.
