The sound keeps cutting out on on my vizio tv

There could be a number of reasons for this, but a few questions first:

  1. When the sound cuts out, does it return on its own or do you need to shutdown and restart the TV?
  2. Do all other functions work on the set as expected even when the sound fails?
  3. When does the sound cut out? Right away or only after the set is on for a while?
  4. What is the model number of the set? As another test to check whether or not the speakers are the problem: Hook up a set of known good external speakers. If that works OK, then the internal speakers have a problem and should be replaced. Dan
