I have a Samsung French door refrigerator with bottom freezer model# RFG297AARS my problem is that the freezer has stopped getting cold and sounds as if condincer fan or motor having to work harder when plugged in yet the upper refrigerator part stays cool and works still? Any feed back is much appreciated thanks
Hi @domsgotproblems , Your model has two evaporator units which do the cooling, one for the refrigerator compartment and one for the freezer compartment. You need to check the following in the freezer compartment: Is the evaporator unit covered in ice?: If so this could indicate either a faulty defrost heater, faulty thermo bi-metal protector or a faulty sensor unit. Is the evaporator fan also covered in ice or not working?: (the fan will only operate when the freezer door is closed, so you may have to listen for it or mark the blades to tell if it is working - opening and closing the door should turn the fan off and on) If so this could indicate either a faulty fan, a faulty defrost heater or perhaps a faulty sensor unit, Here’s a link to the relevant parts in your unit showing roughly where they’re located.
