I have a 1989 Chevy 2wd with a 305 V8. It is a manual transmission (5spd). I just replaced the fuel filter as it was bucking when I was shifting? Now I am noticing the engine revving when I apply brake. Also, when I start it in neutral with brake on, it is a rough start. Any thoughts?
Found this in another forum: There is a check valve between the vacuum hose and the brake booster this valve is supposed to close off when brakes are applied to keep air from going back into engine causing the problem that you are having. Valve maybe stuck open letting air back into the engine.
