My screen is black and the caps lock flashes slowly 5 times and then 3 fast flashes. I’ve looked this up and it says it’s an error with the system board “The embedded controller times out waiting for the BIOS”. It’s a HP OMEN 17-an000 Laptop PC. I’ve tried holding down windows + B/V but it responds to nothing. I’ve also downloaded a BIOS update onto a flash drive but it’s still not responsive. Any fixes? It’s not under warranty anymore and I’m at a loss for what to do. Edit: I’d also like to add that this happened after my laptop ran out of battery whilst I was using it. When booting up it ran a BIOS update and crashed during this and hasn’t been able to boot up since.

Crash during bios update will brick every motherboard. The only thing I can think of is to flash the bios chip itself, but that’s not a diy job. Best thing to do is ask the local repair shops, if no luck go to next town.
