I went to start the car after sitting all night, and it would crank, but not fire. When I got out there was a strong odor of gasoline. When I removed the air cleaner cover there was gas puddled in the air cleaner. I’ve disassembled the carb, and find no obvious problems like a stuck float or anything. What’s the next step?
@gregoryp since you’ve obviously done this kind of work before, I am certain your carburetor is fine. Your float and needle valve are obvious in good shape. The reason why your carburetor could be flooding might be caused by excessive fuel pressure. Normal pressure should be around 6.5lbs and a defective fuel pump could be a cause for that.
