Hi All, I am doing repairs on mostly Apple devices. Can’t help that when replacing the full housing, the dock connecter breaks. Not physically, but the iPhone gives common reboot issues. This can be fixed by replacing the dock connector. But that’s not what I want. Any advice on how to remove the dock connector flex properly so it won’t break. What are the sensitive parts? I use heat and isopropanol now and a spudger. Thanks for helping out.
Once I saw heat and ISO I knew you were definitely on the right track. In regards to heat, I would put on to a heating pad back glass side down at 75 degrees for at least 5 minutes, This should help evenly heat the entire flex vs using a heat gun. Also when prying out try to keep the spudger as flat as possible to avoid and pokes or major bends into the flex.
