My MacBook Pro is connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi, and I need to get my Windows desktop PC online. It only has wired Ethernet adapter. What can I do?
You need Ethernet on both PC and MAC to do this. Settings –> Sharing • Internet Sharing • from WiFi • to Ethernet
First plug the ethernet cable in to both PC and Mac. You cannot share from WiFi from the Mac to the WiFi to the PC because the WiFi on the Mac is the receiver of the Internet and cannot broadcast Internet at the same time.
There is no way to tether the internet connection. You would be better off running an ethernet cable directly from the modem/router to the desktop. Otherwise there are plenty of wireless adapters you can purchase for desktop PC’s. Something along these lines will do. UPDATE: So I was wrong initially. You’ll need two things. One is a USB or Thunderbolt to Ethernet Adapter. (Found Here) Next you’ll want any length ethernet cable (10ft is usually safe). With those two, you should be able to establish a wired connection to your PC and supply it with internet through your wifi. Sorry for jumping the gun on you like that.
