Hi,I am new to repairing TVs. I can do most everything with computers but TVs are new to me and I want to make sure that I know as much as possible before even opening the TV.Another renter in my building has a TCL Model: 55S405. It has no lighting when turned on. With a flashlight I can see a TCL logo on the screen when turned on.I understand that this means the backlighting isn’t working.I just want to get as much advice as possible before I make it worse instead of better. My search show me that the backlighting is inexpensive at around $33 bucks. This is good. So, am I right to assume it is the backlighting or should I know anything else before even opening it up?Thanks,John
- The LED backlight is a common problem im this model of TV. This video should help with replacing the backlight.
- Before replacing the backlights, make sure the power supply is outputting the right voltage for the backlights.
@pcruns this will only hold true if this TV has audio. So doulbe check this by actually getting your TV to a channel. If that works then it’s most likely your backlight strips. If it is not then it could be your power board, main board or your T-con board. For further diagnostics than that we would need to see your board. Post some good pictures of those with your question.
