I put a piece of tape over front camera & now Siri no longer hears me. She beeps indicating that it’s okay to speak, then when I talk it doesn’t pick up any dictation. Both my speaker phone and normal mic for phone calls is working properly. Any ideas why tape over camera affects Siri dictation?
Hello! This would effect the Siri dictation because there is actually microphones located near the camera that are used to pick up your voice more clearly. Also, if you are worried about your privacy, Apple iPhones are incredibly secure. One could argue that they are of the most secure smart phones in the world. Apple puts people’s privacy first. Nothing would be using your camera until you know about it or consent to it. You can know if an application is using your camera or microphone by taking a look at the top of your screen. There will be a yellow dot when the microphone is being used and a green dot when any of the cameras are being used. I hope this has helped you with your problem. Happy fixing!
I believe there is also a mic in the camera so that might be your issue
