Chosen Solution I replaced the battery in my son’s 2016 MacBook Pro 13”. Everything pretty much went off without a hitch except for the 2 thunderbolt ports on the left hand side of the machine. What your referring to it is the Potentiometer. The knob is what attaches to this. The Potentiometer may just need cleaning.

It’s reading an writing perfectly just that sound… I have opened my old disfunctional WD HDD (not My passport) and dicscovered small plastic box with tiny (grain size) balls inside, glued to a back plate of the HDD. It was definitely the source of the rattling noise when shaken. It seems like it’s magnetic. But I don’t know what purpose it serves… It just sat there… That means when you shake your HDD and makes rattling noise, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s broken....
